In our home, we’re beginning to learn how much fun it can be to just take a break from the busy seatwork (i.e.- workbooks) and enjoy some creative fun.  Arts and crafts haven’t always been at the top of our education list, but lately we’ve found that it works for us, and the kids enjoy it a lot.

On the first half of this video I give you a peak into one of our arts and crafts days- sewing and painting are some of our faves. On the second part of the video, I show you a California history project I am working on with my 4th grader.  Our salt dough relief map turns out okay (although it was a messy experience!)  We learned a lot, and Nyomi enjoyed the tactile part of pounding and manipulating dough to learn about the different geographic elements and landforms of the state of California.  We appreciate our new state so much more after realizing how vast the landscape is and how much it has to offer.

Enjoy!
