A few years ago I was feeling pretty ill and I needed some solutions to help me through feeling worn out and sluggish.

The detox bath helped to contribute to my feeling a whole lot better. There are a lot of things I do nowadays to  get my body back in working condition when I’m not feeling well, and detoxing is one of those solutions that worked out well for me.

Initially I thought of detoxification as an internal thing: drinking a lot of water, clean eating, and exercising. The cool thing is that there is more than one road to Rome, so there are other avenues to reach the same solution. I found another key ingredient that helped to refresh me even more: the detox bath!

First, I might add that I start off by saying that before I jump into the tub to relax I like to take advantage of the opportunity to soak by first getting a vigorous workout in beforehand.  So I usually pop in an exercise DVD (or tune into Fitness Blender or Blogilates  and follow up with a stretching session of holy yoga).  Once I’m completely sweaty and exhausted, then it’s time to detox!

Here’s what I’ve been using in my weekly bath routine:

1/3 cup epsom salts

1/3 cup baking soda

1/3 cup Bragg’s apple cider vinegar

a few drops of tea tree oil

It’s nothing fancy, but all of these simple ingredients together in a bath can make a huge difference in your physical well being over time.  I always leave my detox baths feeling completely refreshed.
