christian alphabet book review
Tracy Sands, author of The Christian Alphabet, was inspired to write this book while sitting in church listening to a church choir.  She felt an incredible urge to draw while listening to the choir, and out of the intensity was birthed The Christian Alphabet– a beautiful and symbolic way to present the gospel to kids as they learn or recite the alphabet!

The book consists of each letter of the alphabet beautifully illustrated in a word picture.  Each letter has a word associated with its design.  The first letter’s word picture is “A is for Always“. Along with over 100 Christian symbols used throughout the book, each letter also has a bible verse associated with it, a short devotional or lesson, a scripture reference, and a simple prayer.

During the month of March, I read this book with my children.  Passover and Easter season was a great time to reflect on the sacredness of scripture and simplicity of Christ’s work on the cross- and my children were able to glean that from The Christian Alphabet book.

Each night before bed I turned a page to the next letter of the day and we treated that day’s letter as a bedtime devotional. My kids enjoyed the “seek and you shall find” section where they had to search for hidden symbols within a picture.  Afterward we talked about what the symbols mean and how it applies to our lives.  My youngest daughter also enjoyed The Christian Alphabet Song and sings along with it.

I appreciate the mission of the company: ” to make God more talked about, more thought about, and more known by using The Christian Alphabet in different ways”.  I also appreciate their emphasis on teaching the basics of Christianity as this is something that not only children, but seeking adults, can glean from.

Overall, this book was a wonderful addition to our book collection and was thoroughly used and enjoyed in our home.

Thanks, Tracy, for listening to that powerful urge to begin drawing while listening to the church choir. Through your willingness to listen and obey, we now have a beautiful product in our hands- a book that my daughters will cherish in their collection of faith books for years to come.
