My kids and I are getting ready for the holidays and it is a lot of fun preparing festive activities and holiday recipes.  We ran into this book: the My First Christmas Activity Book, and found it to be a good fit for our holiday, festive mood.

I’m always on the lookout to scour and snag more resources to help me along the homeschool journey.  The kids are pretty good about picking out books that they find interesting and that we can actually use in the home.

A few Christmases ago we decided to try out some activities from the book “My First Christmas Activity Book” by author Angela Wilkes.

This book is filled with Christmas craft and wonder, from the photographic checklists and simple instructions, I was able to easily figure out how to put together many of these beautiful projects.  Of course, the  Christmas Tree Cake was our favorite choice.  (Make sure you check that one out if you should decide to get the book.  It sounds like a lot of work but yields a yummy result!)

We didn’t get around to it, but we definitely planned on making this one for Christmas that year.  I have a laundry list of to-do’s for future Christmases on my holiday foods pinterest board.  Maybe I’ll get around to at least some of these ideas- taking one Christmas at a time.

I love that the photographs in this book are crisp and clear (made simple enough for a child, but great for a visual learner adult like myself).  My four year old at the time could appreciate the photos.

The ten activities include  wreaths, yuletide cards, an advent calendar, as well as a few tasty treats (and a few other fun projects!)

So what’s one of your favorite holiday activity books?

As always, I’d love to hear from you. Have a wonderful holiday season with your family.
