Hey, homeschool mama. Ready to homeschool plan?
If you’re reading this mid-year, no worries- it’s never too late to create a homeschool plan. No matter the time of year, you can jump right in and start planning your goals. (Also, my Homeschool Boss Mama Goal Planner is available, if you’d like additional help with this.)
So, have you been wondering how exactly to homeschool plan for the year? Does planning happen when you purchase just the right planner? How about once you order all the right curriculum?
The good news is- you don’t have to wait on anything to be perfect. Just take a look at your kids that God has blessed with you, and pay close attention to who they are and who you are, and the Lord will guide you in planning for them.
In this video, I share some basic ways to do goal-planning in your homeschool.
Identify your family identity.
I believe every family needs a mission statement. It can be long or short, but the main idea is to ecapsulate the spirit of your home. The wonderful thing about a mission statement is that once you have one in place, you can plan your homeschooling and activities around it, knowing that your family is on track with your mission. In the Homeschool Boss Mama Goal Planner, I’ll walk you through developing your family mission statement.
You start with a core family value, and everything you do as a family supports your mission statement. (Think of a wheel with spokes.) The center of the wheel is your set of family values, and the spokes are all those activities you do as a family to support your mission.
Homeschool plan by assessing your boundaries.
Once you know who your family is (what your core values are), you can begin to establish some boundaries. As homeschool parents, we are oftentimes very protective of our children, as we should be. Setting boundaries is a way to protect our children from harmful situations. It doesn’t mean necessarily being overprotective, but nor should we be underprotective.
Choose resources based on your family uniqueness.
