Welcome, Mama
Hey friend, welcome back to another heart-filled episode of the Christian Homeschool Moms Podcast. I’m Demetria—homeschool veteran, educational advocate, and the voice behind this mic. I’m also the founder of Soul Podcasting, my boutique agency where we help entrepreneurs and creatives bring their voices to life.
As a mom of two beautiful daughters—one already launched and thriving in adulthood, and the other prepping for college—I know firsthand how important it is to raise our kids with a deep sense of faith, confidence, and purpose. And if you’re here, I know you care about that too.
Whether you’re homeschooling full-time, doing the hybrid dance, or your kids are in traditional school—you belong here. This space is all about supporting you with encouragement, practical tools, and faith-based insights to help you raise whole, grounded kids in an ever-changing world.
And guess what? This summer, we’re rolling out our Interview Marathon Series—a lineup of powerful conversations with homeschool parents, thought leaders, and curriculum creators, all designed to inspire you before the back-to-school season kicks off.
Meet Nellie Harden

I’m so excited about today’s guest. If you’re raising daughters (or even sons), this one’s for you.
Nellie Harden is a wife, mom of four girls, author, speaker, and former homeschool mom who has such a heart for helping parents raise confident, Christ-centered daughters in a world that often tells them they’re not enough.
She’s been through the struggle herself—as a former “worth-chaser” and trauma survivor—and now she’s turned that pain into purpose, helping other families raise girls who know their value doesn’t come from what they do, but who they are in Christ.

From Whales to Worth: Nellie’s Unique Journey
Nellie’s story is anything but ordinary. Her career actually started in marine science—yes, she worked with humpback whales! But after facing significant personal challenges and navigating the healing journey from trauma, she felt God calling her toward something deeper: helping families build foundations of faith, identity, and leadership—starting in the home.
Today, Nellie combines decades of study in personal development, leadership, and family life with her own lived experiences to empower parents like us. She’s passionate about using those formative childhood years to instill unshakable confidence and Christ-rooted worth in our kids—especially our daughters.
Worth vs. Performance: A Much-Needed Shift
If you’re raising a girl right now, you already know—our culture is loud. It constantly tells our daughters that their value comes from their achievements, their looks, their followers. It’s exhausting. Nellie calls it the “worth-chasing world.”
But in our conversation, she drops a truth bomb: worth isn’t something to be earned—it’s something God already gave.
What a relief, right?
Nellie’s approach helps us shift from performance-based parenting to identity-based encouragement. Our girls don’t need to do more to be more. They just need to know whose they are.
Infusing Truth into Everyday Moments
One thing I loved about our chat is how practical Nellie gets. She talks about how we can replace cultural lies with Biblical truth in the ordinary, messy, beautiful moments of everyday life—around the dinner table, during car rides, or while tucking our kids in at night.
It’s not about preaching—it’s about weaving truth into the rhythm of your family.
She encourages us to speak affirmations over our daughters—ones that are grounded in Scripture. And no, you don’t have to get it perfect. You just have to be intentional.
A Homeschooling Mama’s Insight
Nellie homeschooled her girls for seven years and shared some beautiful reflections about that season. For her family, homeschooling created space to prioritize what mattered most—faith, character, and deep connection.
She said something that really resonated with me: “Homeschooling gave us time to really know each other.”
And honestly, that’s the part I treasure most about my own homeschool journey. It’s the conversations on the couch, the kitchen table talks, the heart-to-hearts during nature walks. Those are the moments that shape our kids—and us, too.
For the Weary Mama (Yes, You)
If you’re in a season of doubt or weariness, I want you to hear this loud and clear: you’re doing better than you think.
Nellie reminded us that God hand-picked you for your children. He doesn’t require perfection—just faithfulness.
Those late nights, those messy lessons, those “I don’t know what I’m doing” moments? They count. God is working in all of it. You’re not behind. You’re right where He has you.
Take a deep breath, sis. He’s got you.

Final Words from My Heart to Yours
This conversation was such a powerful reminder that as moms, we have the incredible privilege to help our daughters see themselves the way God does—fully known, deeply loved, and already enough.
And in a world that constantly tells them they’re not measuring up, we get to speak a better word.
So, let’s keep showing up with grace. Let’s keep leading with purpose. And let’s keep anchoring our homes in truth.
